very simple procedure to save you money when it come to diagnostics on your toyota, 2000 models or below, obd1

Toyota Self Engine Diagnostic Test Diagnostics

simple tutorial by myself;

all that is needed is a paper clip
1. have engine at operating temps
2. turn ignition to on position but do not start
3. bridge terminals TE1 & E1 in the diagnostics port (have someone do this)
4. the EML light will begain to flash if codes are stored in the ecu.. example; flash, "pause" flash,flash indicates code 12
5. more than one code may be stored in the ecu so take your time to count the flashes properly.. once code is flashed there will be a long pause and if another code is stored it will begain to flash a different code
6. to reset the ecu, just disconnect the battery for 1 minute or so..
7. if the EML flashes continuously once terminals are bridged, there is no codes stored in the ecu..
