Are Honda's days as an enthusiast’s choice numbered?
Just read this piece, thought it was interesting;
http://www.canibeat.com/2012/02/pushing-forward-lester-bracero-static-tsx/#more-41688
He has a point. Will honda ever go back to making cars like they did in the 90's? What do people think...

I was just saying this to a mate recently. They should start making cars like they did in the 80s upwards. Like being out a 2012 ef9 and so on. It would be epic to see old cars with better technology but the same old school looks.

I dunno could they bring out cars like that again, There having enough trouble with the 2.0 i-vtec engine and emissions as it is, So never again would we see 1.6 vtec engines. And now day people wouldn't spend new car money on the likes of a 2012 EG6 lol.

Re: Are Honda's days as an enthusiast’s choice numbered?
It's a fair point, but I think it's more down to the general evolution of cars over the years. VW is probably the best example of this. Look at the Golf GTI as it progressed through the years. It got bigger, heavier, more complex as the years went by and lost it's appeal as a driver's car, and that's what I like about Hondas. Look at any new cars on the market now. If it doesn't have a plush interior, balls of safety and the latest technology with a fuel efficient lump it's not going to sell. It's sad, but I think gradually cars have got "worse" from a driving sense over time. Yes, cars at the pinnacle of engineering design like Ferrari are improving dramatically all the time, but realistically the average Joe will never get the chance to own one of them to experience that.

I dont think we will ever see the golden years of honda cars ever again. the ivtec is just not the same and never will be... with the tax on emissions nowadays all companies think about is how to reduce emissions... The days of vtec are numbered... Hybrid tec is next... ha...

Re: Are Honda's days as an enthusiast’s choice numbered?
I think they realised that the money was to be made in after sales, ie. they made the cars to well and as such they didn't break or people weren't back to replace this that and the other, their ideal and ethos was to produce a car that for its price was the best it could be, and this in turn manifested itself in low after sales marketing. Now cars are built where components have a short enough shelf life and they know that there will be after sales sales. The likes of Renault or fiat must make all their money on after sales, I would love to see some figures. It wasn't a ploy or game plan on their behalf, it just turned out that way, luckily for them ) not their fault they couldn't produce or source components and parts to the same specification as Honda.

I hate new cars
They should all go back making old school cars!! If I could I'd just have a whole load of old school cars....but I can't lol!!

Fact Jill, I have said this for years, 90s jap cars were the best cars ever built, nothing else will ever come close, it's all a money game now.
Did you know-
The first edition integra type r was built at a loss, all the tegs were built at a loss for Honda to prove a point that they cold build a superior road car at an affordable price ) EPIC

days are gone and gone for a reason lads emission laws are too harsh now a days also
also there is too much technology in cars also safety etc

Re: Are Honda's days as an enthusiast’s choice numbered?
well when you look at the likes of the new minis(not so mini) and new beetles would you really want an updated eg6,dc2 or any updated car for that matter, they are only making cars that are readily recycled these days,i mean herself was involved in a tip over a year ago in a 96 civic coupe which was repaired for less than 100 quid whereas the 05 focus that caused the accident was a complete rite off, they just dont make them like they used to anymore same for every manufacturer really
