Re: Model Kit Thread for all those nerds!
I done mine out my back garden too but I think it got the wrinkle look because of the wind, these are the steps I do all my spraying by and everything I spray comes out shit looking, even metal or plastics.
1# I sand as best I can, with the models it's tricky cos I don't want to brake or sand out lines that should be on the car.
2# I use halfords white or gray primer in two or three light coats.
3# I spray with halfords paint 2 or 3 light coats then let it dry! That's it.
Sometimes I mite clear coat it but I don't always do that cos I don't want to ruin it cos it go's dull and then I'd have to wet sand it, and I'm not sure on doing that I case I feck that up too.

Warm cans means the paint flows better and ya get less dribbles and spitting.
Also, sprays better. Warm gas expands.

Tip I learned before,
If you want to use real colors, but you ave an airbrush for models,
Put a can into a vice upside down, then drill into the base.
Slowly and carefully. When you pierce the can, the propellant comes out but the paint stays in. Then when its finished, you can pour the paint out of the can into a collection cup and thin to use in the airbrush gun.

Wow that's a hell of a tip but I don't have air brushes, I'm only starting to get in to it.

Re: Model Kit Thread for all those nerds!
its a cheap way to get candy and pearl colours in small quantities.
as most will be available in a can.
theres a video on youtube of it being done if i find it i'll post it.
but they dont do it the safe way (smoking while doing it lol)

Re: Model Kit Thread for all those nerds!
Ever heard of green stuff?
It's a modelling putty used to blend and mod all sorts of stuff. Even seen lads make cloaks and capes for figures with it.
Great stuff nd easy to work with. Can be got in gamesworkshop or on eBay.

That is pretty rare man. Out of all the shops I've been to and my uncle's model collection (He has a truck load), never seen that one.

I'm over the whole model car thing. Probably never gonna build the rest of my cars, except the AE86. The coolest thing now is Gundam
